Landmarks offers Art Ride

Announcement: Landmarks partners with Mellow Johnny's Bike Shop

Landmarks has joined forces with Mellow Johnny’s Bike Shop to offer Art Ride, a series of bike tours featuring Landmarks public art projects. The tours are a fun and engaging way to view public art from the seat of a bicycle. The partnership brings awareness to both the beauty of the main campus and the university’s growing public art collection.

Guided by a student docent, participants bike at a leisurely pace to visit public art projects located across campus. The tours build awareness and appreciation of modern and contemporary art, including work such as Mark di Suvero’s monumental sculpture Clock Knot, Donald Lipski’s evocative The West, and Magdalena Abakanowicz’s headless Figure on a Trunk.

Located in an historic downtown warehouse, Mellow Johnny’s is home to several works from store owner, Lance Armstrong’s personal art collection. For information on starting locations, ride routes, and bike rental information visit Mellow Johnny’s website.
