Unveiling of Ben Rubin Installation

Please join Landmarks for the unveiling of artist Ben Rubin’s video projection entitled And That’s The Way It Is on Thursday, April 19, 2012.

And That’s The Way It Is honors the legacy of Walter Cronkite, an alumnus of the College of Communication at the university.

The video projection will illuminate the face of the Communication A (CMA) Building with choreographed text drawn from archival transcripts of Cronkite’s broadcasts and recently published news. As daily news is generated, the text adapts to reflect current events – connecting the past and present.

Ben Rubin lives and works in New York City and is highly regarded for his pioneering experiments in audio, visual, and digital electronics.

Prior to the unveiling, Rubin will hold a Q&A session in the Texas Advanced Computing Center’s Visualization Lab moderated by Kathleen Forde, artistic director of the Borusan Contemporary Museum in Istanbul. The event is co-hosted by TACC.
